Viva la Slam Dunk

Bonjour! Slam Dunk 2020 has done a first for the legendary and fam-favourite festival by announcing a residency in Paris!

Now I know what you’re thinking. ‘But Slam Dunk takes place in Leeds and Hatfield? I could have sworn it’s an English festival!’ Yes, that’s true. Or at least, it was. As of the announcement Tuesday, it now takes place in France too; mosh pits beyond borders, spreading the love to our intercontinental cousins, with the firm and fervent hope that the new French leg of the festival shall flourish into a permanent fixture in the pop-punk and rock revellers’ calendar! And with the likes of the artists announced so far, that’s hardly a stretch to imagine!

Headlining the festival comes the iconic, emo screamo pop punk band The Used! With a stretch of hit singles spread haphazardly across seven albums (and hopefully more to come) including personal favourite ‘The Bird and the Worm’ the four piece shall have their time to shine on Saturday 30th May at La Cigale and La Boule Noire in Paris. Joining them in this monumental announcement and event come four brilliant bands: Four Year Strong, known for their cathartic, aggressive brand of pop-punk bangers; the melodic, anthemic Philadelphia quintet Grayscale; and French artists Chunk! No Captain Chunk! (who boast of a powerfully ferocious blend of emo angst and metallic fury) and Landmvrks, who combine melodic hooks and choruses with the sheer power of stunningly strong screamed vocals.

All in all, these five bands are a fantastic choice for opening the French leg; but there’s another five to be announced — so, given out good the day seems with just half of a line-up, what are you waiting for?

Tickets to Slam Dunk Festival France go on sale on Thursday 24th January and will be available from www.slamdunkfestival.com
