BYRN - 'Wanderer'

Brooklyn based artist, BYRN,’s ‘Wanderer’ is a reminder that in times where we might feel isolated and trapped, there’s always a desire deep within us to escape somewhere. We all have a wanderer inside.

Recorded in the bedroom of her apartment, BYRN’s reverbed vocals on the chorus pan across the track’s soundscape, giving a sense of distance to the song, as though elasticated, bouncing from one side of a land to the other.

The frantic beat is modern and yet equally nostalgic, reminiscent of the likes of Robyn’s discography, which replaces neon lights in clubs for something moodier, a cool blue. The true melodramatic feeling of the song comes with the synth, which beams and pulses, giving a sense of movement, like wandering through a hazy dream.

BYRN’s ‘Wanderer’ is equal parts refreshing and moody, but above all, true to the current human condition- a meditation on something we can all relate to- the need to be free.
