Izzy Heltai - 'Father'
Trans artist Izzy Heltai shares confessional new single ‘Father’ – the stunning title track to his upcoming debut album.
Set to the warm rays of gentle folk, ‘Father’ is the sonic equivalent of a kiss goodnight. Izzy’s soothing vocals are wrapped into serene guitars and immersive melody lines as he reflects on his past. “When we're young, we see things in black and white because it helps us make sense of a scary world,” he explains. “When we mature, we learn that the world is full of colour, and finding beauty, even in the faults.” Though they speak of dark times in his life, Izzy’s vocals are coloured in forgiveness and understanding – a beautiful touch that moves to tears.
Taken from his debut album, ‘Father’ gives a first taste of what to expect from a record that is largely about his own transition into adulthood. Talking about the record, he says: “A lot of this record is about seeing memories and situations turn to grey, where black and white previously existed. Finding myself as an adult has largely been about how the people who have always been there for me can fit into my life in a new way.”
