Jacob Whalan - 'Necropolis'
Jacob Whalan elegantly weaves neo-classical influences through indie rock/ dark pop on ‘Necropolis’ the touching first single from his upcoming trilogy ‘Lord of Vanity’.
Opening on four seconds of dark cinematic reverby tones, ‘Necropolis’ makes a dramatic introduction for itself. The track swiftly transitions into an emotionally drenched piano ballad of monumental proportions. Jacob Whalan’s vocal comes in with a pureness, wholesome, emotive sincere, delicately dancing over grittier layers of cinematic tones, seeing strings swell in defiant cries that demand to be noticed.
Whalan’s storytelling is touching, gripping, poetic, seeing ‘Necropolis’ shiver with a dark beauty as Whalan reflects on a broken society and bad omens with a rumbling hunger for change. ‘Necropolis’ is a magnificent journey through affecting neo-classical sounds and dark pop sounds that crescendos into a fiery ball of frenzied keys and impassioned vocals. A very promising track from a deeply talented artist, new to the music industry.
