Rebecka Reinhard - 'Stamford Hill'

Taken from her latest EP ‘Whale’, Swedish dream-pop artist Rebecka Reinhard shares the long-awaited video for standout single ‘Stamford Hill’.

To a backdrop of hazy guitars and simmering beats, Rebecka’s punchy vocals break through a veil of fog as she reflects on feeling trapped: “Should I tell my lovers my heart’s a dead end? […] What’s the point in crying when it all pours back to you?” Her solemn lyricism gets straight to the point, a characteristic that runs through her latest EP ‘Whale’ – a collection of songs weaving the soft air of romanticism into feelings of desperation.

‘Stamford Hill’’s accompanying one shot-video plays on that straight-forward attitude, taking inspiration from the bright, monochromatic colour schemes of the 90s to emphasize the track’s hazy tone, and sees Rebecka crying in a bathtub. "I don’t know why I always seem to end up soaked in water when shooting music videos lately. Maybe because the two directors I’ve been working with are Pisces and Cancer (both water signs),” she muses. “For Stamford Hill we wanted to capture the feeling of being stuck, struggling to move forward but getting nowhere. I’ve got my makeup on, I’ve lit a bunch of candles, you know, doing my best to stay positive and indulge in a new romantic episode of my life. Alas, things don’t go according to plan...”
