Leo Bhanji returns with new catchy bedroom poetry pop in movie-inspired ‘Heathers’.

Following the release of his EP ‘No Guard’, LA-born Leo Bhanji shares new track ‘Heathers’, a lo-fi gloomy track with poetic highlights. The self-produced single is yet another example of Leo’s melancholic lyricism against hip hop inspired beats. With a comforting guitar melody and effortlessly raw vocals, Leo’s opening line, “There’s always someone with you when I like you”, is a powerful and relatable statement that immediately captures the attention of the listener. However, as he explains, the inspiration for the song goes beyond personal experience, “I wrote ‘Heathers’ after quickly watching a few romantic murder movies […] I was working in a shipping container and wanting to make something expressly fictional, which isn't my normal angle”.

The murky track is complimented by almost ethereal B-Side ‘Not Her To Save Anyone’, a simple and brief demonstration of Leo’s bedroom pop production excellence. The 20-year-old artist also shared a video shot and edited by long term collaborator Nick Robins. The set of visuals filmed almost entirely with a night vision camera perfectly mirrors the dark cinematic mood of the song.

After drawing the attention of iconic label Dirty Hit, Leo Bhanji has certainly gotten the UK excited about his music and it is only a matter of time before his intricate blend of pop, r’n’b and hip hop influences starts generating waves internationally.
