In Conversation With #113 - Berries
We catch up with London based alternative rock trio BERRIES to celebrate their recent singing to Xtra Mile Recordings!
Hey BERRIES - how are you? Big congrats for signing with Xtra Mile Recordings! How did the signing come about?
Holly - Thanks so much!! Well we have followed Xtra Mile for years and always been fans of their bands. They are such an artist friendly label so they have always been on our radar as one of our favourites. Everything just slotted into place really quickly, we sent them our next single and they said they had been checking us out, so it was nice to know we were also on their radar. We had some video meetings and chatted through what the band has been up to and what our plans are and what the labels plans are. I played an acoustic socially distanced show with Frank Turner and we met Charlie Caplowe the label owner and it all just went from there. We feel really lucky to have been given an opportunity like this especially with the current state of everything.
How have you been keeping motivated during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Lauren - By trying not to get too stressed about the present and preparing, planning and looking forward to the future when this is over! Chatting to the girls means that we keep each other motivated and the thought that we will be able to play all together again means there’s always something to look forward to!
You're currently based in London, what are some of your favourite things to do in the city in pandemic free times?
Lauren - Go to gigs all over the city! I’m a bit of a foodie as well, so discovering restaurants and constantly eating.
You'll be kicking off 2021 with the release of a new single, 'Copy'. What can we expect from the new single?
Lucie - ‘Copy’ is the kind of song that starts pretty chilled and progressively grows and becomes massive and pretty much finishes with a slap in the face!
What else does 2021 have in store for you?
Holly - We want to play tonnes of gigs and festivals and release loads and loads of new music and just tour all over. We have missed gigs so much!!
