The Nagging Doubts - 'Berlin/Marine'
Australian rebels The Nagging Doubts are beginning to lay the seeds for an expectational 2021 with their new double single ‘Berlin/Marine’.
It has been quite the ascension for these youngsters from Sydney, with it being only year or so since the release of their defining debut EP ‘Deug Lane’ which has taken them from high schoolers to being one of the world’s hotly anticipated punk bands as they begin their journey in a new direction. The band have been spending some time investing in this new, darker direction and ‘Berlin/Marine’ is the first taster of the band’s hotly-anticipated EP ‘Autocalm’ which we can expect at the beginning of the new year.
The double single is a great showcase of their upcoming release as we see a young band in their prime with no fear as they begin to add new dimensions to an ever-increasing sound palette. ‘Berlin’ is certainly the darker of the two, its strength being its layers of dreary synths and basslines which draw influence from the likes of Joy Division as the band speak of their experience of being in a foreign country for the first time as an adult.
‘Marine’ focuses more on the band’s “shedding” of their high school constraints and finding them in a new reality that is far from normal and the self-discovery that can come from such a situation. This double really shows The Nagging Doubts’ maturity in their sound and within themselves and it’s a great indication of one of the most hotly anticipated releases of next year.
‘Berlin/Marine’ is available now on all major streaming platforrms and the new EP from The Nagging Doubts ‘Autocalm’ will be available in early 2021.
