BEA - ‘Ghost’

BEA follows up her exhilarating debut single, ‘These Streets Of Ours’ with the gentle melancholia of folk pop single, ‘Ghost’.

’Ghost’ opens pairing ambient and ethereal textures with minimal throbbing beats seeing the track come to life with its very own heartbeat. Through the hush and hum of the track’s minimal production shines BEA’s soft, intimate vocal, opening on the poetic lyric, “he doesn’t know I’ve always loved the winter sun, and the way it glows like every flaw has been undone”.

’Ghost’ is both a dark song, but also a song shrouded in innocence. There’s a serenity that radiates from the track’s gentle production, even in its rawer moments as BEA confides , “he can't see the darkness I bring with me everywhere”, “he thinks I glide and move with such a steadiness, free and light but he doesn't feel my heaviness” before the track' swells with emotion on the sombre chorus, “ “my skin’s gone cold I’m not even breathing, I lost my soul while he was sleeping'“.

For ‘Ghost’, BEA draws inspiration from the aftermath of an unhealthy relationship. She goes on to explain ‘Ghost’ is “a vulnerable account of what it's like to be with someone who thinks they love you but doesn't really know you or see you or what you're going through.”

A bold, brave and beautiful offering from an independent artist so full of promise.
