Tyler Page - 'Don't Believe The Aliens'

Cape Town-based alternative pop artist Tyler Page makes her debut with ‘Don’t Believe The Aliens’ which compares living through 2020 to being stuck somewhere between a dream and reality.

Opening with a surreal, string-laden cinematic instrumental, Tyler Page’s ‘Don’t Believe The Aliens’ sets itself up to be a thrilling listen from the moment you press play. Page’s vocal delivery is hazy and unhurried, as she poignantly confides, “nothing is what it seems, all I want is to be free”.

’Don’t Believe The Aliens’ is a woozy and unearthly sound which sees its startling strings arrangement accompanied by dreamy synths and tight bass beats. This means the overall tone of the piece is woozy and illusory, leaving its listener feeling like they’re running through a dream in slow motion.

While the track works to create a dreamlike state, there is something more concrete behind its message as Page explains:

“Coming to terms with 2020 is nothing short of believing in aliens, I think we can all agree. Our world almost seems unrecognisable but we’re all going through it together. My song, ‘Don’t Believe The Aliens’, has taught me to expect the unexpected.”

This is billowing alternative pop with an elusive heart.
