Producer/ songwriter Alexander Vincent explores the link between social media/ phone addiction and mental health issues on poignant single, ‘ Other' People’s Lives’.

Opening with a manipulated vocal a cappella, Alexander Vincent wastes no time in getting vulnerable and to the point on his charming, sorrow-filled single, ‘Other People’s Lives’. Vincent is a less is more artist who makes dramatic soundscapes out of minimalistic production. ‘Other People’s lives’ has a laid back drum beat which drives the song on the barest parts, seeing in transform into a heavy, distorted beast which provides a roaring, disorientating atmosphere, propelling the track into an amplified territory of detachment that is echoed in the track’s theme as Alexander Vincent explains,

“I am addicted to my phone and social media. I spend so much time staring at instagram. Comparing myself to other people and feeling horrible. I can’t go 2 minutes without pulling out my phone. It has led to a huge amount of anxiety in my life. I need to stop. I think our society will discover more and more about how much mental health and cell phone use are linked. I think this is a much bigger problem than we realise.

A bleak and haunting look at the downfalls of being constantly exposed to other people’s lives on social media.
