LICE – ‘Conveyor’

New song, new label, new LICE.

In order to distance themselves from the ‘satirical guitar music boom’ they had become associated with, Bristolian group LICE have re-emerged and reinvented themselves with the dystopian-sounding ‘Conveyor’. Under the influence of EBM and science fiction, LICE have released their most experimental and ear-opening single to date. There’s a hint of Girl Band at times, with the fuzzy basslines, apocalyptic drums and menacing guitar noises. But LICE have created something unique and original that still retains that LICE ‘sound’. The whining hypnotic vocals are still there and the huge riff at the ‘chorus’ has that same energy as old favourites such as ‘Stammering Bill’.

‘Conveyor’ is the beginning of a new era for LICE. With it being released via their own label Settled Law ahead of their first UK tour, it looks as though the band have big plans for 2020. And if it’s as ambitious and as brilliant as ‘Conveyer,’ then LICE will be the most exciting band of the year.
