Opus Orange x Annie Higgins - 'Made In Silence'

LA based artist Opus Orange teams up with Annie Higgins for the touching single, ‘Made in Silence’, which champions intimacy, and sharing solitude with someone special in trying times.

’Made In Silence’ is the closing track taken from Opus Orange’s new album, ‘Miles from Nowhere’ and is actually a reprise of the album’s opening track, ‘The Lucky Ones’ which sees the album pleasantly go full circle. ‘Made in Silence’ sees Opus rework the song replacing the upbeat crunchy bass and melodic, spikey guitar which drives the song. with ethereal atmospherics and emotive keys.

Opus also recruits the blissful voice of Annie Higgins on vocals which sees the song take on a new tenderness and vulnerability, accentuating the beauty and cinematic appeal to the song as Orange describes the track as, “an escapist romance, being alone together”. In times of panic and uncertainty during the Covid-19 pandemic, with much of the world going into isolation or social distancing, there’s a new poignancy to the lyrics; “Change the locks on the door, stay a while more, change the numbers on the phone, they’ll leave us alone, shut everything down, silence all around, keep the noise out of our heads”. This sees both versions of the song serve as a stark reminder that solitude doesn’t have to be so bad and that “we’re the lucky ones” when we have love in our lives to retreat to.
