goldenbloom – ‘(Great) Britain’

What’s so great about Britain, anyway?

London’s goldenbloom are back with their feisty new single ‘(Great) Britain’. Their debut EP left quite an impression last year, and the band prove that they’re still pissed off and not going anywhere any time soon.

Like their previous release, goldenbloom’s latest single are similar to IDLES and should catch the ear of any AF ganger. However, the band have since added a bass guitar, giving the band a fuller sound. There’s more riffing than IDLES here. The opening riff has a country blues punk flavour and the ascending riff in the chorus is menacing and just plain cool.

‘(Great) Britain’ may be one of the first releases of the year to take a look at post-Brexit Britain. It’s social commentary is similar to IDLES ‘Great’, but the satirical humour is replaced with a bleak perspective.
