Off the back of her recent release, "Fire With Fire", we caught up with the burgeoning pop superstar Ksenia to talk about the feature-film calibre music video.

How does the video connect with the song?
The whole video is a metaphor describing a toxic relationship. It’s saying that they did have some good times, but at the end of the day he was abusive and it was hard to escape. A love-hate relationship.
One day she wants to leave but the door is closed and she can't get out. In the video, there was also a fire extinguisher on the wall but she didn’t see it because we can’t help ourselves sometimes. Even though something obvious is right in front of us.

Do you have any behind the scenes stories you could share with us?

Tyler, my co-actor, is the funniest goofball I’ve ever met in my life! The video is serious but we laughed so much. I picked him up and drove us to the location and it was non-stop laughter. He’s hilarious. And hot! The whole shoot took one long day and the team was great, I’m working with them again on the next video! Also, we didn’t set the house on fire, haha, that was post-production.

What is the main message the video and song conveys?

Fire With Fire is all about toxic relationships and narcissistic abuse, so when you’re dealing with narcissists, you don’t even know that you’re being abused.
At first the relationship can be great but then they turn on you, and you’re like “oh my God, what happened?” and then they emotionally abuse you.
For the video, I wanted to include the fire. One of my inspirations was Rihanna, I really love her music video for “Love The Way You Lie” and also “We Found Love In A Hopeless Place”. I love how they portray toxic relationships and with this video, it shows that love-hate relationship where you can’t leave but you can’t stay. For me it was easy to talk about. Songwriting is the only place where it’s not hard to be vulnerable. I think it’s just kind of my therapy.
