Haux – 'Heavy'

Talking about and dealing with the loss of a loved one can be tough. No one prepares you for that kind of grief, for the kind of pain that feels like someone has ripped a massive hole into your life and went “here you go, now move on.” The complete and utter helplessness of not being able to do anything, not being able to grasp that this is it and all that’s left are memories.

Photographer-turned musician, Woodson Black aka Haux has poured this feeling into his new single ‘Heavy’ recalling the moment he discovered that his Aunt had died from an accidental overdose. It won’t come as a surprise that ‘Heavy’ is heartbreaking in every sense of the word. His warm, clear vocals and the softly flowing melody remind of Rhodes ca 2015 in their ability to soothe, while his poetic lyricism is nothing short of haunting – “If you ever loved me, how come you never said so?”

The single serves as an outlook on what to expect from Haux’s upcoming album ‘Violence in A Quiet Mind’ born out of a childhood coloured by cancer, substance abuse and a fatal overdose… You might want to stock up on tissues.
