Mellah – 'Family Fun'

It’s not often that an artist comes along and completely knocks you off your feet. Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Liam Ramsden, or Mellah, has that potential and proves exactly why on new single ‘Family Fun’.

A young artist with a vision and a strong sense for justice, Liam takes a look at society’s failings in a way that actively makes you want to listen. Catchy pop melodies attract attention while his punchy, irresistibly versatile vocals drive the point home, taking the price for illusionist of the year. Mellah is an outstanding storyteller, wrapping dark/bleak realities in fun and funky beats, effortlessly creating uplifting melodies to carry devastating truths –“Family Fun, the smell of freedom from the end of a gun […] pick up your toothbrush and your children and run.” ‘Family Fun’ might just be 2020’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’.

Talking about his inspiration and drive to make music, Mellah explains: “I often feel quite a lot of anger at society and how people seem to ignore injustice just for a cup of tea and a comfy sofa. We consume these sanitised shrink-wrapped little nuggets of reality whereas the rest of the world’s crawling around in the mud. It seems crazy to me that people aren’t angry about it, don’t want it to change.”
