Spare No Words – ‘Nothing’

Spare No Words know there’s ‘Nothing’ better than a fist-pumping rocker.

Inspired by “cheap beer”, Melbourne’s Spare No Words mix up grunge, metal and funk to create their own take on heavy rock. The result is ‘Nothing’, built around a simple yet booming bass riff. It sounds a little like a cross between Rage Against the Machine and Alice in Chains – the focus being on rhythm rather than hitting as many notes as possible. This is where the funk influence is apparent. The vocals are pissed off, which is great as it is what you need when channeling your hatred towards the media turning you into a “mindless consumer” over such meaty music.

‘Nothing’ is the latest single from Spare No Words’ upcoming album Kill the World. So, if you dig early 90s heavy alt rock scene and the sarcastic pub rock approach of other Australian bands such as The Chats and Amyl & The Sniffers, then look no further than Spare No Words.
