LÉON - ‘Who You Lovin’
‘Who You Lovin’ takes us on a journey of uncertain and unrequited love and offers up a more assertive, potent sound from songstress LÉON.
The track is the second single of the year from the indie-pop powerhouse and Swedish native, following on from February’s ‘In a Stranger’s Arms’. An unwavering and steady guitar riff provides a sturdy metronome for a scorned LÉON to begin her investigation into why her romance went awry, via haunting yet authoritative vocals. A whirlwind of dreamy cinematic strings take over, sweeping us away with them, as we get tangled up in all of her emotions. Feelings of confusion, desire and disappointment all come to a head when we hear her raspy cry of ‘who you lovin’ if you don’t love me?’. A stark contrast exists between the almost electrically-charged angst at the beginning of the song and the instrumental outro. We’re left reeling as it ethereally fades out and finishes, almost as if it didn’t happen - much like how you feel post break up. It’s a catchy, nostalgia-tinged track that you’ll have on repeat, regardless of your relationship status.
Another full-length studio album is slated for release later this year, with LÉON taking full control this time around.
The sophomore release will be through LÉON Recordings, her imprint partnership with BMG.
