Someone – 'You Live In My Phone'

Amsterdam based artist Someone aka Tessa Rose Jackson has not only announced her debut album ‘Orbit II’ to be released on June 20th, she is also tying us over with new single ‘You Live In My Phone’ – a confessional track talking about a very 21st century kind of addiction.

‘You Live In My Phone’ is playful retro pop complete with funky stylophone sounds and synthesisers. Cheery melodies and Someone’s softly flowing vocals almost make you forget the track’s somewhat unsettling theme until you start paying attention to its lyrics and recognise yourself in her words - “You’re like a drug in the palm of my hand, I’m stuck. I can’t help it. I reach for you like I’m craving a hit.”

Talking about the album and how ‘You Live In My Phone’ fits in with its themes, Tessa explains: “It isn’t meant as a personal diary log for me to vent my feelings […]. I’d like it to be more of a bolstering experience, a conversation starter for people that recognise themselves in these songs. The music is optimistic, even if the lyrics sometimes wade into some pretty harsh waters and this balance - to me - helps to bring perspective, positivity and a little humour into the mix.” Long story short, Someone is doing something right and ‘Orbit II’ is definitely an album to look out for.
