L.A based multi-instrumentalist Stephanie Rice explores letting go of past pains after reaching ‘Rock Bottom’ on her emotive indie pop single.

Fractured relationships, rejection, abandonment issues and pain underpin Stephanie Rice’s, ‘Rock Bottom’, an intimate and emotionally raw song with tenderness and resilience at its heart. Rice’s rich, distinctive vocal is hushed as she whispers vulnerable secrets up against minimal production, seeing heavy piano keys thick with emotion echo the weight Rice carries with her in her lyrical theme as explains:

”I was alone - had nowhere to go - and was sitting on an air mattress with a hole in it. As I sank to the floor, it felt like I was sinking to 'rock bottom.' And the more time that passed - the worse that it felt. Everyone says that time will heal, I don’t think that’s true sometimes. The more time that passed, the further I fell. Having to admit that to myself was the inspiration behind the song. Accepting the 'sad and ugly' truth, enabled me to let go. Letting go meant I could get up off the floor.”

As he track develops, ‘Rock Bottom’ chimes with uplifting textures and in turn Rice’s vocal becomes more ethereal and free. ‘Rock Bottom’ is a genre-blurring track that explores alternative ideas while retaining soulful pop sensibilities. Innovative, yet familiar, ‘Rock Bottom’ is an exciting look into the standard to expect from Rice’s upcoming sophomore album.
