Irish singer songwriter Alan Finan gives food for thought with latest single ‘The Drive’. Inspired by a visit to a town in rural Ireland, he effortlessly turns his experiences into sound, giving life to a painful realisation.

Fast paced, almost urgent, beats build a stark contrast to Alan’s soft, warm vocals that flow easily along a bumpy road. Impressively simple, Alan creates a tranquil landscape of folk interwoven with clever electronic elements that make ‘The Drive’ stand out from the masses. Introspective lyricism confronts the idea of mortality with a heart-breaking clarity - “Taste of failure left alcohol on my breath. Lost control of sight seduced by happiness. Hazards flashing light traveled roads up ahead. Driving drunk through the sobering of life itself“

Talking about the single, Alan explains: “’The Drive’ reflects tragedy in community, how one accident remains the burden of so many, how we move ourselves knowingly towards ruin when morality is there, opposite. Inspiration came in light of a visit to a town in rural Ireland affected by a car accident that changed the lives of so many families.”
