Bristol based duo Meadowlark – Kate McGill and Dan Broadley –  break the silence with new single ‘Lightning’.

The soundscape of ‘Lightning’ is bittersweet; at the same time soft-spoken and intensely emotional. The Japanese House-esque mellow pop melodies and Kate’s serene vocals create a dreamy atmosphere that turns into a heavenly chorus. But listening to Meadowlark’s delicate lyrics, the realisation hits like lighting that this is not just any song, it addresses a hard hitting topic with buckets of empathy - “Can’t be violently silent anymore ‘cause I owe it to the world, to the women, to the girls that I break for.

Describing the inspiration behind ‘Lightning’, Kate reveals: “This song is for all the women and girls who get a bold of lightning through their body when they hear someone’s name. This is for the #metoo movement. This is for survivors”
