Normal Average People – ‘Baggy Ankles’
Following the release of debut single ‘Kolla Ögon’ in March, Normal Average People show off their more aggressive side with ‘Baggy Ankles’.
And what a punch it delivers. ‘Baggy Ankles’ is just under five minutes long and mixes an unforgettable groove with brash angst. There’s a bit of Egyptian Blue here, as well as the funk meets kraut vibe of Bowie’s late 70s output. With the ranting fury-fuelled vocals, ‘Baggy Ankles’ has a hint of Pixies’ Trompe le Monde album in it.
The partnership of Sam Gillbanks and producer Emily Lloyd is perfect. The song is brilliant and the production perfect in capturing the live delivery of the band (featuring members of Sam’s other project Gillbanks). Normal Average People are set to release more material throughout the year, and it’s going to be good.
