EP Review: Deco - 'Real Life'

Deco are offering out their hand to help us escape from reality in the form of synth pop with their debut EP ‘Real Life’.

This pop duo has found success in how they’ve effortlessly spliced their new age sound with 80’s synth-pop, inspired by the likes of Duran Duran and George Michael, it’s hard not to listen to the two-piece without having a smile on your face.

The release of their debut EP has been somewhat shrouded by what is happening, but the duo made the decision to bring ‘Real Life’ forward to bring “some joy” and help others with all proceeds from iTunes going to the UK charity Homeless Link.

Deco have also begun to make a name for themselves on the live circuit, with each performance descending into a party. Fans will get the chance to celebrate once again, with the duo set to support fellow indie darlings Bang Bang Romeo and Marsicans throughout October.

Though only four tracks, the ‘Real Life’ EP is made up of pop nuggets that only get better with repeat listening. From the opening beat of ‘I Don’t Wanna Go Out’, a personal highlight right through to the title track, you get the overarching theme of modern technology and how that effects our relationships and everyday lives.

‘Real Life’ is the culmination of everything that this duo have done so far, with the goal of putting smiles on faces and getting hips moving. Deco surpass expectations in both departments, a much-needed dose of happiness and is certainly one of the best debut EP’s of 2020.
