Horsemeat - 'Queue Jumper'

‘Queue Jumper’ by Progressive grunge outfit Horsemeat is as rich in sound as perhaps an actual Horsemeat burger ..... I'd imagine...

As the band who hail from 'South Manchester suburbia' sledgehammer through this grunge/metal inspired track I find myself wanting to let out some steam and bellow along with lead singer Bert Genovese as he wails out a Chorus of “Queue jumper! Out of touch!”.  The track is intertwined with a slick piercing guitar riff and crashing symbols.

The song has a velocity and pace that's reminiscent of some of the great grunge and metal gurus, such as Metallica and Rage Against The Machine. There is a strong whiff of Pearl Jam with a hint of QOTSA for good measure. In their words - “A song about missed opportunities, drudgery and bitterness” the lyrics suggest personal inner turmoil and insecurity - 'fake conversations, fearing rejections' 'Queuing forever never-ending...waste life' and 'Nihilistic threats' all groaned out with a pent-up gravelly undertone.

‘Queue Jumper’ is  taken from Horsemeat’s 3 track EP release ‘Falling Deep’ which is out now on all the major streaming services. Check out the band’s YouTube where the song is accompanied by menacing visuals of war and atomic bombs. Kaboom!
