Matt Costa – 'Jet Black Lake'
Is there anything more comforting than Indie-folk? If your answer is yes, you probably haven’t listened to ‘Jet Black Lake’ - Matt Costa’s new single painting the world in pastel colours.
‘Jet Black Lake’ is distinctly timeless. There is something nostalgic about its soft choral backing and Matt’s soulful vocals, giving the track a vintage flair while gentle strings and trumpets speak of hopeful euphoria. These golden undertones hint at the overall theme of his upcoming album ‘Yellow Coat’ (September 11th) that, though inspired by heartbreak, is a sign of better times: “Everyone's going through personal trials all the time, and it can be isolating. But now everyone's going through something. And as difficult as that is, there's comfort in that too. Because we're all in it together, and we have been the whole time. Except now we can actually feel it.”
And feel it we can, guided by Matt’s stunning songwriting and soft-spoken lyricism – “I knew where to find you, despite sleight of hand, despite the bad weather, despite the false starts, despite the marble statues that crumbled in my way.“
