Lav – 'The Girls Before Me'

Following the success of previous singles ‘Wavvy’ and ‘From Me The Moon’, breakout artist Lav shares dreamy new track ‘The Girls Before Me’.

As Lav reveals, ‘The Girls Before Me’ “was written out of a deep insecurity of constantly comparing myself to past loves.” A sentiment that is all too present in her emotive lyricism when, in a vacuum of hazy lo-fi melodies, she asks: “Baby, do you see me or the girls you loved before me?” Lav’s vocals are soft and sweet which makes them twice as haunting and the pain that seeps through them even more impactful. Talking more about the track, she adds: “Most of the time it’s all in our heads, and in this case, it definitely was, however that didn’t make it any less real or painful to feel.”

In keeping with Lav’s already impressive reputation, ‘The Girls Before Me’ is most definitely a song to remember. Another brilliant offering from a young talent on the rise.
