Kraków Loves Adana - 'Faces Replaced'

Hamburg based duo Kraków Loves Adana shares ‘Faces Replaced’, a hypnotic, gloomy synth pop reworking of their 2010 single ‘Porcelain’, out now via Italians Do It Better.

Last month, Kraków Loves Adana celebrated the 10th anniversary of their 2010 debut album ‘Beauty’ by reworking the album’s lead single, ‘Porcelain’ and retitling it, ‘Faces Replaced’. What was once a fairly minimal lyric led song with crunchy percussion and incessant chiming and grooving guitar work, is now a haunting, synth-heavy song that takes singer Deniz Cickek’s vocal to darker and gloomier terrain.

’Faces Replaced’ pulsates with dance driven electronic beats, incorporating jittery techno influences with nervy ethereal tones, creating a surreal, danceable backdrop to the deep melancholy in Cicek’s vocal. While the vocal is raw and emotive on ‘Porcelain’, ‘Faces Replaced’ cleverly removes the vulnerability of its original bones, instead driving forward a sense of hollowness that is thoroughly charming in its punchy vocal hook that allows you to sing along with more gusto.

’Faces Replaced’ comes hot on the heels of the duo’s May release, ‘The Darkness Between Us’ and the announcement of their upcoming album, ‘Darkest Dreams’ which is due for release this fall and looks set to be a fascinating journey through sorrowful and fluid synth pop sounds.
