Oz – 'Money'
Rising alt-pop singer songwriter Oz shares debut single ‘Money’ – a fierce and defiant track rioting against high society.
Electrifying and magnetic, ‘Money’ thrills with dark rhythms and punchy vocals. To a stunning soundscape of beat-driven melodies infused with delicious basslines, Oz sings about the dangers of running in the wrong circles – “Money may be a splendid thing but right now it’s doing my head in. I believed you when you said nothing and no-one would ever change your head.” Talking about the inspiration behind the track, Oz explains: “‘Money’ is a song that discusses the dangers of the ‘keeping up with the Jones’mentality. We change so much of ourselves to conform to the western ideals of beauty or success. It sounds so clichéd but what really matters is who you are. Of course, people change and grow, that’s what we’re meant to do as human beings. But when you aren’t being true to yourself, you’re in dangerous territory. In my experience, it normally leaves you sad and vacant.”
Oz immediately impresses with her expressive vocals and intoxicating melodies. With a debut EP on the horizon, ‘Money’ gives a first taste of what’s to come in the not so distant future and fuels high expectations for an artist with unbound potential.
