EP Review: Maya Delilah – 'Oh Boy'
Multi-talented creative Maya Delilah releases her highly anticipated debut EP ‘Oh Boy’ – a masterpiece of soaring vocals and gorgeous songwriting.
‘Oh Boy’ is a wonderful introduction to Maya Delilah’s world of music that immediately makes you fall in love with her bright and sunny melodies. The EP follows Maya on her journey to finding her sound and does a remarkable job of combining RnB infused rhythms with intricate pop twists. However, the main attraction that stands out across the entire record is her guitar playing that never fails to set itself apart. Whether it’s cozy guitar lines on bubbly ‘I’m Just Stupid’ or ‘Gato’’s fuzzy and funky rhythms, Maya has mastered the art of capturing any mood.
“The EP goes through a sort of timeline of a relationship,” Maya reveals about the inspiration behind the record, “starting to fall for someone, second guessing the whole thing, thinking you are being played, throwing your doubts aside and figuring out what you like about that person, then feeling at ease when everything is FINALLY ‘perfect’.” ‘Breathe Easy’, the final track on the EP, is the heart and soul of ‘Oh Boy’. A closing track that radiates unfiltered emotion through gentle, intimate lyricism and leaves you feeling at ease with the world.
It’s not hard to understand why long-time fans can’t get enough of Maya Delilah. ‘Oh Boy’ is everything you could possibly want from a debut record and most definitely a 2020 essential.
