Dream Nails – 'Jillian'
London punks Dream Nails release their new single ‘Jillian’ – “A song about queerness, body positivity and problematic TV fitness celebrity Jillian Michaels.”
In true Dream Nails fashion, ‘Jillian’ packs a punch. Literally and figuratively. Thrashing guitars and infectious drums create a playfully witty atmosphere while roaring vocals work out their queer muscles – “Whatever we do will be worth the pain yeah. Whatever you say I’m gonna say hell yeah.” An empowerment anthem that finds strength in self-love and takes no bs from anyone.
Talking about ‘Jillian’, vocalist Janey Starling explains: “This is a song about realizing you’re queer while you’re doing a workout DVD. It’s a personal-power anthem about finding the strength to come out; that’s what the line 'I feel the fear leaving my body' is all about.”
