Casey Conroy - 'Mad'

Casey Conroy finds the sweet spot between edgy and experimental lo-fi sounds and punchy pop on high-energy single, ‘Mad’.

There’s a really cool 2 step/ UK Garage undercurrent driving ‘Mad’ into adrenaline pumping territory. Spiky melodic guitar textures give a rawer edge to the track, as dreamy melodic nuances drift in and out of the production, offering a soft accompaniment to Casey Conroy’s smooth and intimate pop vocal as she confides, “Oh, I know, I really could do better for myself”.

For Conroy, authenticity is key as she explains, “I’m not interested in glamorizing myself just for the sake of being glamorous. It’s really important for me to reflect and make music about real people and real things.” Keep tuned in for the unique and saturated instrumental that drifts into the song like a surreal dream in the second half of the song. Here Conroy slows the pace down leaving pause for thought as she pulls focus on the track’s title, confessing that she holds back some of her thoughts and feelings incase people are mad at her, before fading out on another cool instrumental.

This is a touching and totally cool track, seeing Conroy become a top contender in my personal, “most interesting artists of the year” list.
