Jake Whiskin – 'Breakneck Speed'

With confessional lyricism and unfiltered emotion, Leeds singer songwriter Jake Whiskin goes in for the kill on jaw-dropping new single ‘Breakneck Speed’.

‘Breakneck Speed’ is heart-breaking in the most cathartic way. A stripped back setting of soft acoustic guitars makes it impossible to hide in big productions and distracting arrangements, impossible to escape Jake’s hauntingly beautiful vocals as he tackles dysfunctional relationships - “I need some faith you’re my escape when I’m empty. You probably think that I’m crazy now and I know you’re right.” Talking about the track, Jake says: “'Breakneck Speed' is a song that came together very quickly both writing and in the studio. On the surface it’s a lovesick song about a dysfunctional relationship and a yearning for escapism, but on a deeper level acknowledges transient pleasures that have run their course as a distraction from an internal absence.”

Impressively honest and deeply vulnerable, ‘Breakneck Speed’ joins previous singles ‘All of the Damage done’, ‘Electric’ and ‘Dark Days’ in building a stunning sonic legacy and groundwork for Jake’s upcoming debut EP set for release later this year.
