Joe Parsons - 'Pilot'

Rising comedian Joe Parsons releases his ‘coming out’ song, ‘Pilot’, the first single taken from his upcoming self-titled debut album.

Joe Parsons is a comedian at heart. Always one not to take himself too seriously, it’s surprising that he’s decided to release such an embracing track about the important subject matter of homosexuality.

Recounting the first moment he told someone he was gay, ‘Pilot’ is the perfect introduction to Joe’s music. He has a wonderful ability to create a musical landscape of sprawling dream-like synths, disjointed drums and blunt lyricism, presented with delicate harmonies, as he takes inspiration from dream pop, shoegaze, trip-hop and jazz genres.

The accompanying black and white visuals focus on vulnerability, which for Joe, was going topless, as he explains “I’ve always had a real body image issue and have always hated being topless anywhere in public. I’d wear a jumper in a swimming pool if I could.”

Vulnerability and homosexuality is a theme that runs throughout his debut album, which is released on his birthday, October 13th 2020. Mastered at Abbey Road by Andrew Walter (David Bowie, The Who, Coldplay, Radiohead), the new single showcases the atmospheric melodies and vast soundscapes that the album presents.
