Birmingham-based songwriter and producer Matt Ryder shares nostalgic new single ‘Not The Same’.

“Falling in love with somebody is not like it used to be” Matt sings on ‘Not The Same’, breathing into life his frustration with modern dating culture. To an atmospheric backdrop of lo-fi melodies and nuanced electronica, he captures a reality we all know too well. “I felt like I was constantly overthinking everything I was doing and saying. Even the thoughts I had I would overthink,” Matt explains. Channelling this frustration into his writing he adds that “it was encouraged by the teenage society I was involved with. You can never really have a private life when you're young.”

Lyrically, ‘Not The Same’ may deal with a lack of privacy but its immersive soundscape feels intimate and safe. A song that allows you to escape into daydreams and floods your body with a sense of calm, it speaks for Matt’s skill as a producer and leaves you hoping for more.
