Iris Arins - 'Moon skin'
‘Moon Skin’ is the ethereal, eloquent second single from an upcoming four-track EP by Reykjavik based composer and producer, Iris Arins.
Iris Aris is the project of Iris Thorarins, who also divides her time as a member of the band Grúska Babúska. The project showcases her ability to work across genre, melding alternative pop, electronica and ‘a dash of trip hop’.
With ‘Moon Skin’s rich yet subtle sonic pallet, Arins ably crafts an atmosphere of growth and new life emerging even in the darkest places. The track begins delicately, lush harmonies growing over whimsical, earthy textures, before unfolding into darker, more electronic territory. With ‘little by little, new life starts within’ there is a sense of tentative growth and blossoming, beautifully reflected in a swelling chorus of voices - some sweet, some breathy and wild.
‘Moon Skin’s spare, eloquent lyrics and subtle textures show off Arins as an artist with real command over her musicianship and ability as a producer. It is an earthy and elegant addition to an EP that should brim with character and imagination.
