Shanghai Blues - 'Save Me'

Shanghai Blues are back and ready to give us a much-needed dose of pop rock with their new single ‘Save Me’.

Born out of remnants of local London bands and inspired by a defunct Chinese restaurant now long in the memory, these four childhood friends have gone to become one of the country’s hotly anticipated alternative rock groups with a knack for seamless song writing and dropping bursts of energy at the right moments.

That energy isn’t only reserved for the music with this quartet also building quite the reputation on the stage with coveted support slots and seven consecutive sold out London shows under their belts. But like many bands, that energy has had to be put into their music and Shanghai Blues haven’t rested on their laurels with the release of their B-side ‘Honey’ last month.

‘Save Me’ is billed as the headliner and it certainly delivers such a performance as we’re treated to an exhilarating dose of pop rock which is wrapped up in the band’s instinct for a romanticised pop hook, but dig deeper and you find a track is deep in emotion. The song comes from those moments of being “pinned under the weight of the world” and the necessary need to “reach and talk” to relieve that feeling and know we’re “still on the right path.”

Shanghai Blues are really beginning to come into their own and give their fanbase increasingly catchier songs that resonate with you long after listening but also inspire those who may feel a similar way and that is the true sign of a special band.

‘Save Me’, the new single from Shanghai Blues is available now on all major streaming platforms.
