Skout - 'Dumb Little Life'
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Skout drops joyful indie pop single, ‘Dumb Little Life’ ahead of her forthcoming EP, ‘Patterns’ due for release September 25.
Skout returns with another optimistic soundtrack to self-doubt and feeling out of sorts with ‘Dumb Little Life’, a road trip worthy song that absorbs the expansiveness and freedom of the open road. ‘Dumb Little Life’ is an uncluttered guitar-driven sound with feel good percussive rhythms, that makes use of warm, upbeat and jangly tones as Skout chooses to turn her luck around and embrace all the good things in her life, belting out the uplifting chorus, “We can do whatever with this dumb little life, yeah we can be whoever, we can love who we ‘d like”.
Speaking on the ideas behind the track, Skout explains, “It’s a song about persistence, about mental health, and about changing your perspective. I’ve never been good with change and am often paralyzed by the perceived permanence of every little decision. ‘Dumb Little Life’ is a big ol middle finger to that mentality, and a celebration of the fact that we can, in reality, do whatever the hell we want with our (dumb little) lives.”
’Dumb Little Life’ is a feel-good reality check to always try to grow through the hard times. Skout has delivered another emotionally charged offering with an infectious hook that is bound to put a smile on your face.
