Bryony Williams – 'Dive'

On the run up to her third EP ‘State I’m In’, Wolverhampton’s Bryony Williams shares one final single - piano driven ballad ‘Dive’.

Her darkest and most exposed track to date, ‘Dive’ showcases a different side to Bryony’s sound. Where previous singles ‘Knockin’ and ‘I Can Be’ were driven by roaring guitars and powerhouse vocals, this one captivates with a sparse yet delicate arrangement. Led by a grand piano and framed by tender violins, Bryony’s wispy vocals create an intimate atmosphere. There is no place to hide, nothing but intricately crafted sound that draws attention to her introspective lyricism. “Dive was the first song I wrote after returning home from my 3-month backpacking world adventure,” she says, “which is just as surprising to me about where this solemnness manifests? I think Dive is an ode to my other track, Silhouette. There are lyrical comparisons and a certain solitude. Yet, rather than being directed towards one person in mind, I think Dive delves deeper than that; where instead of saying goodbye to somebody else, perhaps I’m saying goodbye to my old self, “oh how I better myself."

With three singles fuelling expectations, ‘State I’m In’ promises to be a collection of exciting new sounds, a fresh take on Bryony’s eclectic brand of indie. Bring on October 30th!
