Shiv – 'You and I'

Dublin-born, Paris-based singer-songwriter and producer Shiv shares new single ‘You & I’, taken from her upcoming debut EP.

Beautifully emotive piano lines wrap ‘you & I’ in a tender embrace while warm, soulful vocals softly stroke its delicate surroundings, the perfect song for emotional healing. With breath-taking harmonies and minimal production, Shiv - born Siobhan McClean – creates an intimate atmosphere, a safe bubble of gentle Soul and R’n’B. “When I wrote this, it felt like it was a love song about one person giving more than they’re getting in a relationship,” she explains. “In the context of the EP, however, this to me is about the strange intimidation that I manifested towards my creativity. This song talks about the fear that comes up, the fact that you can’t push your creativity, you need to allow it to come to you.” 

The first of six tracks to be released, ‘You and I’ marks the arrival of Shiv’s debut EP - A record she describes as “an exploration of my inner world, and essentially a look into my relationship with myself and my creative process.” There is an unmistakable sense of vulnerability to Shiv’s songwriting that makes her self-released offerings all the more authentic and puts her on the map as an extremely exciting new voice to look out for.
