LA-based alternative pop artist Dava puts an upbeat twist on betrayal on healing new single, ‘Papercut’.
Earlier this year Dava made an explosive introduction for herself with bass-heavy hit, ‘ASOS’. Follow up single, ‘Right Time’ showed a different side to her sound channeling stripped alt R&B vibes. Chameleon of sound Dava has unveiled yet another side to her sound with her moody and vulnerable current single ‘Papercut’.
’Papercut’ trembles with dark and emotive sensibilities, as Dava’s sweet vocals coolly explore her reactions to a deception in her life. But Dava has turned her discomforts into punchy and upbeat pop through its laid back driving rhythm and on the track’s bubbly and fuzzy chorus, seeing her find closure in the track’s breezy perspective-gaining mantra, “you’re just a papercut”.
Here, Dava finds the middle ground between sad bop and pick-me-up pop.
