HEKA - 'Fake Smile'

Bristol based five piece HEKA make their startling debut with indietronica anthem, ‘Fake Smile’.

’Fake Smile’ opens with a waterfall of trickling trance-like synth textures punctured by post punk inspired grooving guitars and stomping drum rhythms. HEKA slow down the tempo a bit and strip things back as vocalist Anton Larkin’s voice comes in alongside a tight drum melody with a sense of washed out mystery to it, impassioned, broken and raw, but fully engaging.

Citing influences from The Cure and Depeche Mode to Wild Beasts, HEKA find that sweet spot between brooding aesthetics and a kaleidoscope of vibrant and serene sounds. ‘Fake' Smile’ is a danceable and explorative dose of indie rock and electronica that hits home the questioning mantra, “Where’s your fake smile now?” as the band explores the consequences of the facade we put up eventually falling away.

’Fake Smile’ is also accompanied by a sci fi inspired animated video created by Tom Sharp which you can watch below!
