Holiday Program - 'Your Way'

Holiday Program (Tim Haines) explores the push and pull of a relationship on touching indie folk single, ‘Your Way’.

Holiday Program
’s hushed and atmospheric vocal emerges from a spare and brooding soundscape of reverby textures and gentle piano chords, setting the track off with real intrigue. A minimalist drum machine rhythm gives the track a ticking quality, that feels a lot like time is being wasted in a relationship as Holiday Program laments, “You and I want to stay, and if I am my way, am I lying awake? And I come and I wait’ before breaking into the refrain of ‘but I lie on, for a while’.

’Your Way’ has an impressionistic lyrical theme with a lot of double meaning, but there’s a constant feeling of a search for the truth and understanding as reverb-drenched violins filter in and out of the track like niggling thoughts, this is also reflected in the track’s more lively piano melodies. Timpani drums give a dramatic, moody each to the piece, seeing the track spill over with emotion. But there’s some funky and quirky interludes that fundamentally keeps the track feeling laid back.

‘Your Way’ is a sparse song, that still feels robust in Holiday Program’s dynamic and engaging arrangements. It’s an offering that is deeply affecting in its haunting vocal harmonies and richly textured melodies that is certain to stir your emotions into a frenzy.
