Black Honey - 'Believer'

Black Honey take us on a pilgrimage with this head banging, sing your heart out new single ‘Believer’.

Believer is another foot stomping, bewitching single following their previous release ‘I Like The Way You Die’ taken from their highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Written and Directed’ which is due out 19th March 2021. The message behind the upcoming album is ‘to unashamedly plant a flag in the ground for strong, world-conquering women.’

The track opens with the chorus lyric ‘I’m a Believer, Baby’  immersed in a catchy backing vocal ‘ooh’ that’s bound to be etched into your brain for weeks. Delivered alongside a spellbinding and hypnotic video set in a deserted Mexican village portrays the story of a ‘dead behind the eyes’ front woman Izzy B Phillips.

Izzy describes the track as “ a song to accompany your existential crisis. I wanted a religious satire that was eye rolling at all the patriarchal nonsense of spiritual sense of self. I wanna believe in me, the outsider and the underdog. It’s like coming of age, coming out and coming up.”

Believer is a track covered with sickly sweet vocal melodies, wobbly guitar tones and punchy drums creating that iconic and unappologeticly Black Honey sound that has only blossomed since their first album back in 2018 . Drawing influence from classic pop culture and a wink towards true rock and roll, the track is in and out in 3 swift minutes leaving us wanting to listen over and over again on repeat.
