Nia Wyn offers another glimpse of her honest contemporary soul with latest release ‘Imma Be Honest’ featuring Aaron London.

The Welsh singer has fused her classic blues and songwriter influences, some found on records in old junk shops, to make something that still feels modern and refreshing. Opening up from the beginning by singing “how can I explain myself when we don’t even speak the same language anymore? maybe we never did”, Nia explores the balance between the feeling of abandonment, and still wanting that support from another person.

Close to half-way through, track co-writer Aaron starts singing, and adds to the majesty of the track, eloquently produced by Pat McManus. The three of them have made a link-up that clicks perfectly.

The raw vocals deliver an additional intensity to Nia’s storytelling, which intertwines adolescence and identity. It’s an honest reflection of mental health, inspired by her own day job in mental health services, as well as her own struggles despite growing up in beautiful Llandudno.

Nia’s ‘Take A Seat’ EP comes out on March 19th, and features ‘Muzzle’ and ‘Who Asked You’, the latter of which is on the soundtrack to FIFA 21. ‘Imma Be Honest’ is an ode to honesty, and the importance of getting things off your chest.
