Axel Flóvent - 'Still Awake'
Icelandic singer-songwriter Axel Flóvent debuts new video for electronic folk single ‘Still Awake’.
The new single ‘Still Awake’ is here to accompany his brand new Album ‘You Stay By The Sea’ which is out now on Nettwerk Records, home to Angus and Julia Stone, Passenger, and Old Sea Brigade.
The over-arching creative goal behind the album is a journey of growth in his songwriting style. Flovent states ‘“The ultimate goal was to bind together my old way of writing songs with what I’ve learned and made it sound like one collective,”. This single stands out from others on the album to have a poppier vibe which is driven by synth melodies and reverb drenched backing vocals to create that perfect blend of pop folk.
’Still Awake’ hits us with en epic chorus full of heartbreak and optimism searching for the relief of being able to ease your mind long enough to sleep and dream. Produced by Ian Grimble at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales who has worked with the likes of Bear’s Den and The 1975, a beautiful blend of these two worlds has been achieved in this track. Delicately entwining folky vocal melodies with electronic drums allows ‘Still Awake’ transport us to a floating world of stillness and calm, set alongside a cinematic music video and it is everything we need to get through our January blues.
