Maggie Lindemann - 'She Know's It'
Maggie Lindemann shares her new pop-punk banger ‘She Knows It’ and we can’t seem to get it out of our heads.
With the lyrics “I like the girl that’s got a boy friend, can’t seem to get her out of my head. She knows it should be in in her bed, ya she knows it…” Maggie Lindemann, one of the pioneers of the new emo wave, opens her newest head-bopping tune ‘She Knows It’. Without any rodeos, the young punk goddess introduces the topic of the track with a very loaded statement that has elements of vulnerability, jealousy, rage and sexiness. From those very first few lines, we can already tell we’re in for a hell of a ride that will take us back in time to the 2000s while still keeping us grounded in the present.
Featuring all the good ingredients of historically great pop-punk including sick drums and soaring guitars which push Lindemann’s vocals to their max, ‘She Knows It’ tells the story of a rather cheeky friend zone situation. On one sideMaggie explores her feelings for a girl who is in a relationship with a guy, and on the other, she presents us with the fact that said girl has just been playing with her for attention.
However, there’s always a tiny bit of mystery left behind as the artist hints towards the fact that there’s still a very heavy powerful sense of attraction. In Lindemann’s words, “I wrote this song about how I liked a girl who had a boyfriend. She would confide in me about how shitty he was and say and do things that would kind of lead me on but then tell me she didn’t ‘mean it like that’…so I was like fuck it, I’m gonna write about it”.
In addition to entertaining us with a great musical experience, Maggie also brings to live what she calls her “high school fantasy” in the form of an incredibly well put together video. The set of visuals directed by Vixxion also feature popular artist Jasiah as the lead male and has appearances from collaborator Siiickbrain and popular alternative artist TOOPOOR. Clearly pulling inspiration from bands like Paramore and Simple Plan and Blink182 , the creative vision is brought to live perfectly with a sprinkle of industrial elements that keep it very modern.
Having just released a longer body of work PARANOIA, Lindemann has managed to established herself as one of the most exciting acts of the past couple of years, particularly in the renaissance of the emo scene. With really good prospects in the horizons including touring with Madison Beer, we certainly are left wanting more from such an exciting act.
