Charlotte Spiral - 'New Light'

London duo Charlotte Spiral shares dreamy chamber pop single, ‘New Light’.

Opening with a mesmerising waltzy piano melody and a pure vocal reminiscent of Angels Obel, ‘New Light’ is composed of light and floaty melodies that transport their listener to somewhere serene and sophisticated. There’s some beautiful layered vocals in the second half of the song as Charlotte Spiral lament, ‘Oh, I never feel right, as someone with responsibility… I wish I could lift off and fly but I ask myself to keep my feet on the ground’ amidst a soundscape of twinkling and swirling ambient tones.

’New Light’ is a track that leaves its listener feeling relaxed. But it’s also a song that possesses a subtle sorrow and sense of restlessness as Charlotte Spiral blur the boundary between reality and fantasy to compliment the personal conflict in the lyrical theme.

Speaking about the song, vocalist Amy explains “It’s simply a message to myself to live more in the moment and stop imagining how things could be, especially nowadays when it's so easy to get distracted and compare yourself to other people”.

’New Light’ is the first single and title track taken from Charlotte Spiral’s promising upcoming EP set for release in Spring 2021.
