Hedda Mae - 'Take It Or Leave It'
Hedda Mae swings through the decades and conquers 90’s pop and 00’s R&B with a modern twist in new single ‘Take It Or Leave It’.
Having just released synth-pop/disco-inspired EP ‘Introducing: Hedda Mae’, the Bergen's pop starlet hits us one more time (pun intended) with her new 90’s/00’s influenced single ‘Take It Or Leave It’.
Hedda has previously proven her mastery of the iconic 70’s/80’s by channeling her inter Kylie and Jackson 5, however, this time around, she has chosen to evoke a completely different series of pop royalty. Drawing from the likes of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, Hedda opens with the classic naughties production and a very familiar set of electronic strings that immediately bring us back to the Britney era. As the song goes on, the listener comfortably relies on her softly tuned vocals just to be surprised once more by the signature Hedda twist. All of a sudden, a heavy funk electronic production hits us, almost taking us back to the disco era as she sings “I’ve seen this before”. By the end of the head-bopping tune, the Norwegian up-and-comer has us dancing in what almost feels like a time travel vortex.
Co-written and produced with Benjamin Giortz, “‘Take It Or Leave It’ is confronting the frustration of not knowing where you stand with someone.” Something we can all certainly relate to.
Hedda’s unpredictability and musical flexibility are amusing and as she keeps on building her universe, we can’t pinpoint what is to come next but we can certainly hope for more up-beat bops to come our way.
